Pakistan’s ICC Champions Trophy campaign suffered a major blow as star opener Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out due to a serious injury.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Fakhar Zaman will not be traveling with the team to Dubai for the tournament, citing a severe strain in his chest. His injury was deemed significant enough to rule him out of further participation in the event.

Injury Details & Possible Replacement

Fakhar Zaman sustained the injury during Pakistan’s match against New Zealand, where he was seen struggling on the field. Although he briefly returned to play, his discomfort was evident, forcing him to leave the ground again.

The PCB has reached out to the ICC Technical Committee to finalize a replacement for Fakhar. Sources indicate that Imam-ul-Haq is the frontrunner to replace him in the squad. Imam made a strong case for himself with an impressive 98-run knock in a warm-up match against South Africa.

An official announcement from the ICC regarding Fakhar’s replacement is expected soon.

Pakistan’s team management acknowledged the setback, stating that Fakhar’s absence is a significant loss. His aggressive batting has been instrumental in Pakistan’s recent performances, and the team will need to adjust quickly to fill the void.

With the Champions Trophy approaching, Pakistan now faces a crucial decision in selecting a suitable replacement to maintain their batting strength in the tournament.
